A Reflection on the Relationship between the Army and the Citizens using the Example of the Garrison troops in Holysov in 80s and 90s

The thesis focuses on the reflection of the presence of the military garrison in the everyday life of the inhabitants of Holýšov in the time span from the 1980s to the end of the army's presence in the town (1997). The thesis deals both with the structural composition of the garrison in the period under study and with the significant events related to its presence, but the focus of the thesis lies in the analysis of the mutual relationship of the army with the population of the town and with its self-government. The research is based on oral history interviews with conscripted soldiers, basic service soldiers, civilian employees of the army and the local population. The hidden history of piece of stone

The main goal of this thesis is recontruction of a historical event which took place on the shooting-range in Kladno - Krnčí on 1st June 1942 by using the oral history method. Shortly after the World war 2nd , there was build a memorial, which reminded this tragedy and was soon forgotten. Recording interviews with the contemporaries of that event and family relatives plays the key role. Along side that the thesis stands on information from various fonds of National archive, State regional archives and Archive of safety organs, and also from online sources and print. The author describes in the text his first touch with the oral history method and obstacles deriving from particular interviews. He focuses on finding and interviewing direct witnesses of the tragedy, even a son of the executed in one case. The core of the thesis is dedicated to narators view on the event in 1942 which they could hear or experience. By comparing the archive sources and the narators interpretations there contruction of the incident becomes a solid overview what happens before the execution in 1942. Besides the main proposition of applicability of oral history method on recontruction of the past, the author also thinks of practical experiences in using the oral history method. Prague grammar schools teachers during the time of so called normalisation

A professional life of secondary school teachers of Czech gymnasiums (rough equivalent of British grammar schools) in so called normalization period is presented in this thesis using autobiographical recounting, contemporary documents and archival materials. The author mentions the choosing of their careers, their studies and ensuing start of their teaching practice that took place in late sixties. Author puts emphasis on mapping of the leading role of the Communist party of Czechoslovakia in the workplace during the so called normalization period and how it was perceived by the teachers themselves. Author shows the role of the communist party using teacher's reviews, entrance examinations and complex assessments. Later on, author elaborates the mechanisms used to keep school "socialistic" up to the year 1989: controls, deliberations and meetings, schoolings, school phraseology, material provision, anniversary celebrations, voluntary works, skiing and defense courses, sister trips and teacher's role in society. In the end, the thesis maps a downfall of communist party's leading role at schools and the transition to a democratic education after the year 1989.
WE SURVIVED. THE FATE OF FORCED WORKERS DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to approach to the life of forced workers, who were involuntarily recruited to work for The German Empire during the Second World War. This thesis has two parts. The first one is theoretical where you can find the accurate information from specialized literature. This information specifies particular characteristics of forced labour. It describes the method of oral history, dividing of forced workers, division of their recruitment and mainly their life conditions in time of forced labour. The second part of this thesis includes contemporary witnesses´ interviews collected by the oral history method. In this part of work there are compared the individual life stories. Furthermore, the obtained information are compared between the contemporary witnesses and bibliography.
